Where to Go
Can you visit the Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail now?
Sure! At least parts of it... but don’t expect to see signage telling you you’re on the Fjord Trail just yet.
You can visit a number of scenic destinations listed here that will be incorporated into the Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail. They’re “live” now and definitely worth a visit.
All have a super-high kid-friendly rating (except for Breakneck Ridge, where parents and guardians need to be mindful of dangerous drop-offs).
What to Bring
What to Bring
Legendary Appalachian Trail hiker Earl Shaffer said "Carry as little as possible, but choose that little with care."
Explorers never leave base camp without the essentials; and while the non-essentials might seem light at base camp, they get heavier as the day wears on.
When visiting the Fjord Trail, make sure to pack:
- WATER - at least one quart per hour of physical activity
- SNACKS
- SHOES made for walking - comfort before style!
- MONEY for parking or train fare
- HEADLAMP or FLASHLIGHT, even if you’re sure you’ll be back before dark
- SMARTPHONE for photos, navigation, and emergencies
