From Planning to Execution
The Park is a combined state, regional, and private partnership illustrating the power of community collaboration
Regional conservation champion Scenic Hudson accepted the challenge to create a safe pedestrian route from local train stations for the growing number of hikers making the Hudson Highlands their destination—and the Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail planning process began.
We are proud to call the visionary leaders in conservation, recreation, community, and governance listed below the Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail Steering Committee. Click on their logos to learn more about their work.
Representatives from each of the twenty entities on the HHFT Steering Committee meet periodically to review updates on the design, planning process, and project timeline. They also share the perspectives of their municipalities, agencies, and organizations and up-level any concerns so that HHFT can factor them in to overall planning.
HHFT is in effect a “park within a park,” sharing parts of the landscape with the Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve. Parts of the Fjord Trail linear park will be managed collaboratively.
